The very fast high-resolution 3D digital microscope system is capable of adjusting both the DOF and the z-location of each camera frame – with current capabilities of 30,000 fps and a theoretical frame rate limitation of over 2 million fps. At the heart of the system is the TAG Lens, capable of sub-microsecond focusing. Thanks to the use of the percussive power of sound waves to create a tunable acoustic Grin lens without any moving parts or mass transport, the TAG Lens also has the unique feature of operating on a fully closed-loop system. This ensures reliability, repeatability, and traceability. Due to its near perfect parabolic waveform, the Lens is diffraction limited and as such can easily be optically conjugated with high NA devices such as high resolution telecentric objectives.
