The fastener is working at room temperature, resulting in connections as strong as adhesive and with less electrical resistance than solder. The metallic connection allows an operating temperature of up to 400 °C. The base of the connection technology are nano-lawns, consisting of billions of single nanowires, grown on both components to be connected. The components can then be connected by just pressing them together. The nanowires interlock with each other and due to their small dimensions they partly cold welds with each other. The result is a purely metallic, permanently stable and non-detachable connection. The connection only contains the metal used for the nanowires, which is pure copper for most applications.
