On the hardware side the system uses high accuracy ballscrews/servo motors for accuracy, a camera for vision and a laser to give depth perception. On the software side, the advanced image recognition technology allows, the robot to identify variance, verify solder jobs as well as compensate for board warpage and misalignment. Instead of a sensor feedback loop, the robot uses the special physical attributes of a ferromagnetic alloy to control the temperature. The system will be able to view what is being soldered in real time and make decisions based on the current board being soldered.
