It has a workstation with two connector‘s trays, that can be exchanged. Three seal feeders and three insertion tools allow to process three different seals with one configuration. Furthermore, it has a vision inspection system to detect the connector’s position, compensating any variation of position and to perform final visual inspection, identifying which connectors have errors. New configurations can be done locally, without re-programming the machine. Operators select the insertion pattern using a barcode reader. This will load a predefined insertion pattern from a database or a remote KSK server. A Scara robot is used to insert the seals. The insertion tools are not static: they are individually picked by the robot, as needed, and stored once they are no longer required. The insertion takes around 1 s.
